De Santillana's work is characterized by a refined, minimalist approach to form and color. She constructs her tablets by first blowing a vessel and then compressing and flattening the form until the walls meet. Then she sands the surface to enhance the luminous nature of the material and soften the form, so each tablet seems to emanate color and light from within. The gentle curve of the bands of color and the carefully chosen, limited palette suggest landscape as well as mood. The tablets have a meditative, vaporous quality that presents form, color, and light in complete balance and harmony.
